Meet Our Team

  • Diane
    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Diane graduated from Ridgetown College in 2001, and has been with us since then. Diane’s areas of special interest at work include animal behaviour, laboratory testing, rehabilitation medicine and client education. After work, Diane enjoys being at the ball park with her family hitting the ball around and taking her daughter, Jordan to the playground with their young Rottweiler, Jethro.  She also has 2 cats Thor and Sully, who make sure the house stays in order, by order we mean knocking everything off the counters, shelves, couch, etc.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Sarah’s interest in veterinary medicine started to develop while she was working at an all cat vet hospital in high school. Sarah graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at St. Lawrence College in 2002. In, 2004 she decided to broaden her work and join the Cumberland Vet team to work with all small animals. Although she loves working with dogs, she will always hold a special place in her heart for cats. She has a special interest in anesthesia and dentistry. She loves being a vet nurse, helping pets and pet owners feel comfortable and informed. She has a handsome cat, Indy who was her first baby and has graciously allowed her two human babies to share his house.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Aly has been a member of the CVH family for 12 years. She started as a receptionist and kennel assistant then was hired as our technician when she graduated from Algonquin College in 2008. Aly just returned back to us part time, from her maternity leave with her first child, Jack. She enjoys spending time with her family, fitness, cooking and blogging. She has two dogs, Walker, a goofy Shepherd and Tiki, a one-eyed Chihuahua. Aly has a keen interest in writing our client education Newsletters as well as managing our Instagram account!

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Mel is our newest veterinary technician who graduated in 2017 from Algonquin College. At 5 years of age she moved to Canada, from Cuba, where her adoration for animals first started to grow. She is passionate about caring for and healing pets. She also loves learning new languages. She recently adopted a kitten, Libby that was surrendered to our care. 

  • Lynn
    Receptionist
    Lynn van den Ham has been a member of our reception staff since 1999. She shares her home with Piet, her beautiful black Labrador Retriever. Lynn has tried to retire several times in order to travel more often but just cannot stay away. She still finds time to travel to some of her favourite places like Arizona, Florida and of course attend her Ottawa Senators games. She also has a dog walking and pet sitting service, give her a call and she will care for your pet as if they were her own.

    Receptionist

    Sally MacMaster has been a member of our reception staff since August 2008. She also helps take care of our website & Facebook page! On the weekends you can find her travelling the country with her Border Collie, Dexter as they compete in agility, flyball and dock diving. Dexter is a stellar athlete! She also has two kittens she rescued, Jon Snow & Moo. She recently adopted another cat, Turnip because he 'turned up' at her house.

    Debbie Smith has been a member of our reception staff since February 2007. When the warm weather finally appears, Debbie disappears, she spends her summer at the cottage. Debbie has two chihuahua's, Lexy & Zoey, a Bernese Mountain Dog, Dakota and she recently adopted a senior Pug, Dexter. She also has a couple of cats, you will need to ask her how many is a couple.

    Receptionist
    Christina Gilson has been a member of our reception staff since December 2011. She has a full house with her two sons, Bradyn & Jake, her little dog Caper and her crazy kitty Reggie. Christina has quite the artistic flare from creating art projects as gifts, quilting, painting or helping sew up some of her co-workers clothing. Whenever you need a hand, Christina will be there to lend you hers.
  • Sabrina
    Receptionist & Veterinary Assistant
    Sabrina is one of our veterinary assistants/receptionists who joined our team in January of 2015 after completing her COOP placement with us in 2014. She is currently studying criminology and psychology at the University of Ottawa. She shares her house with a 1 year old chunky orange tabby named Harry. Harry, formerly known as Prince Harry, has retired from his clinic cat duties and has embraced the house cat lifestyle as part of the Pelletier-Vaillant family.
  • Kayley
    Receptionist & Veterinary Assistant
    Kayley MacInnes was hired as one of our Veterinary Assistants after she completed her high school co-op with us in January 2014. She is now attending school at Carleton University. She later moved to a second position where she can now be seen at the receptionist desk as one of our receptionists. She has two dogs at home, Roxy and Max. In her spare time after going to school and working, she plays ringette.
  • Rebecca
    Veterinary Assistant
    Rebecca is in her third year at Carleton University studying Humanities and Biology. She volunteered with us for six months before officially joining our team in August of 2016 as a Veterinary Assistant. Rebecca absolutely loves animals, especially her dog Rosie. Despite being allergic to cats, Rebecca is always eager and ready to help out in anyway that she can! Ever since she was little, Rebecca has dreamed of becoming a veterinarian herself someday. An important note, if you see someone who looks like her out and about, don’t be alarmed! Rebecca has an identical twin sister!
